MOBILE HOME AKA MANUFACTURED HOME INSTALLATION

Greene Township requires (1) a zoning permit, issued by the Zoning / Code Enforcement Officer, and (2) a construction permit, issued by the building inspector, to place or remove a mobile home. For more information click here.

Manufactured Home Installation Brochure

MOBILE HOME INSTALLATION is regulated by the Department of Housing and Development through DCED and applies to all mobile homes installed in the township, including new, used and those in mobile home parks and private lots.

NEW MOBILE HOMES

Pennsylvania requires a HUD Manufactured Home Installers License to certify every manufactured home installation. The licensed installer certifies that every manufactured home installed in Pennsylvania complies with the manufacturer’s approved installation instructions or the Pennsylvania Guide for Relocated Manufactured Homes.

After finishing the installation of a new manufactured home, the HUD licensed installer must provide a completed HUD Form 309 to the purchaser, the retailer, maintain a copy for themselves, and a copy to the local code official in order to receive the certificate of occupancy.

USED MOBILE HOMES

The person applying for the building permit to relocate a pre-owned manufactured home should first determine if the manufactured home still meets the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards that were in effect when the home was first produced.

Used mobile homes must be installed using the IRC regulations.

A habitability checklist is provided here.

ALL MOBILE HOMES

All installation must be inspected including footers, foundation, tie downs, electrical hook up, etc. All unites must have 2 fully installed means of egress that meet current code.

No attachment of decks or roofs of any kind will be permitted. These accessories are allowable as free-standing structures so as not to compromise the construction of the home.
