A local group of people from Greene Township and surrounding communities have come together with the goal of helping those in need.  They call themselves the Community Benefit Committee and to date, they have raised over $75,000.  They hold spaghetti dinners, hamburger/hot dog dinners, basket raffles, and 50/50 drawings all with the help of local businesses and individuals who donate time, space, materials, food, baskets, and paper products. In the last two years, those funds benefited 6 local families whose needs were either related to medical expenses or catastrophic events.  The committee and volunteers recognize that it’s the community, residents, businesses, family, friends, and neighbors who are truly the driving force behind the success of each of these events.

The committee is currently selling Chestnut Hill candles to offset some of the start up costs for each of the fundraising events.  You may show your support by purchasing a candle, available each Friday at the Hookstown Volunteer Fire Department during their fish fries.

Anyone interested in volunteering for an event, donating in some way or suggesting a family in need should to contact a committee member.
