WHAT IS PA ACT 32?

Pennsylvania Act 32 of 2008 enacted comprehensive Earned Income Tax (EIT) collection reform throughout the State.  Pursuant to the Act a total of 69 countywide EIT tax collection districts were to be established. The purpose is to have uniform withholding, remittance, distribution as well as reporting, rules, forms and codes throughout Pennsylvania.  Consequently, if you are employed, your employer is now required to withhold your tax at the rate where you live (1% – shared between Greene Township and South Side School District) and it will be directed to your home municipality and school district. If you are self-employed, work out of state or are a federal employee you are required to pay the tax quarterly or be subject to additional penalty, interest and costs.

Real Estate Tax is based on the assessed property value. The County reassessed all properties in 2023. Prior to that, the last County Reassessment was in 1982. The reassessment was needed to realign inequities, ensuring that each property owner pays their fair share of the tax burden.

$370,053.94 was the total assessed value of properties in Greene Township prior to the 2023 reassessment.

$2,464,765.80 is the total assessed value of properties in Greene Township for 2024. The reassessment reduced Greene Township millage from 11 mils to 1.655 mils.

1.655 mils is equal to .0165 cents per $100 of assessed property value.  Of this, .1506 mils of tax is provided to the Greene Township Emergency Services Board and the remaining 1.504 mils stays in Greene Township to offset the cost of road improvements and maintenance
